Bang Rak Noi Agritourism
ศูนย์เกษตรบางรักน้อย
Bang Rak Noi is a riverside subdistrict of Mueang Nonthaburi, in Nonthaburi province just across the Chao Phraya from Bangkok, long known for its durian orchards. The agritourism here centres on a surviving century-old orchard where families still grow the prized Nonthaburi durian varieties — Mon Thong, Kan Yao, Chani and Kop — on the fertile riverbank soil that made the fruit famous.
The orchard is at its best in the durian harvest of April and May, which coincides with the annual Nonthaburi Durian Festival. In season you can walk the orchard, learn how the trees are tended on raised beds between water channels, and taste fruit straight from the source — Nonthaburi durian is some of the most sought-after, and most expensive, in Thailand. Mangosteen, mango and other orchard fruit ripen alongside it.
Because this is a working family orchard rather than a commercial market, the visit is low-key and seasonal: it rewards going at harvest time and arranging ahead rather than turning up expecting a year-round attraction. Outside the durian season there is less to see, though the riverside setting and old-Nonthaburi atmosphere remain pleasant.
Bang Rak Noi sits on the Nonthaburi bank of the Chao Phraya. The easiest approach is the MRT Purple Line (Bang Rak Noi–Tha It station) plus a short taxi or songthaew, or a river crossing from the Bangkok side. Bring cash, and check ahead on the harvest timing before making the trip.
