The Million Years Stone Park And Pattaya Crocodile
อุทยานหินล้านปี และฟาร์มจระเข้พัทยา
The Million Years Stone Park and Pattaya Crocodile Farm pairs a landscaped rock garden with one of Thailand’s largest crocodile collections and a small zoo, spread across roughly 175 rai (about 28 hectares) in Bang Lamung district, a 15-minute drive from central Pattaya. It’s one of the older wildlife attractions in the area, and it’s worth going in with a clear picture of what’s actually on offer, including the parts that draw criticism.
The stone garden section is the calmer half: paths wind through shaped and weathered rock formations, ornamental ponds, and trained trees, closer to a sculpture park than a natural history site despite the “million years” name. The crocodile and zoo side is a different experience — daily shows run at 09:00, 10:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, and 17:00, where handlers work directly with the animals, including putting a hand inside a crocodile’s mouth as part of the routine. The zoo section holds white tigers, elephants, giraffes, bears, and ostriches alongside the crocodiles. Watch out: this is also where the park draws sustained criticism. Visitor accounts describe crocodiles kept in crowded, water-poor enclosures, and other animals — tigers in particular — appearing sedated or chained for photos. Tripadvisor has stopped offering bookings for this attraction specifically because it doesn’t meet the platform’s animal welfare guidelines. If close-contact animal shows aren’t something you want to support, this isn’t the place to change your mind.
For a Pattaya-area wildlife stop without the shows, the Royal Thai Navy Sea Turtle Conservation Center in Sattahip rehabilitates injured turtles for release and doesn’t charge for entry — a more straightforward option if the welfare concerns here are a dealbreaker.
If you do visit, morning is more comfortable than midday heat, and the park sits just off Sukhumvit Road — a taxi or songthaew from central Pattaya takes about 15 minutes. Entry isn’t free: budget roughly 400 THB for a foreign adult and 150 THB for a Thai adult (child rates are lower), though the park doesn’t publish a fixed price list, so confirm the current rate at the gate. Bring sun protection and comfortable shoes for the walk between the two halves of the site.
