Wat Oi

Daily 08:00-17:00
Entry Free

Wat Oi graces the shores of the Noi River in the San Chao Rong Thong Subdistrict, serving as a spiritual anchor for the residents of Wiset Chai Chan municipality. Believed to have been constructed during the Ayutthaya period, the Ubosot has six chambers, built of ancient bricks and adorned with a wooden roof and fired clay tiles, reminiscent of the majestic Wat Phutthaisawan in Ayutthaya Province. This particular Ubosot is devoid of windows, a feature known as Maha Ut within its holy temple resides the Bronze Buddha image, revered by the locals as Luang Pho Dam. Outside, the Ubosot’s facade has four resplendent pillars, crowned with lotus buds and adorned with small pediment, with boundary marker stones along eight cardinal points. Wat Oi’s legacy extends beyond its walls, as it plays host to the sacred ritual of taking the oath of allegiance during the Ayutthaya period.
