Banyan Tree Krabi opened in 2023 on Tubkaak Beach, a quiet stretch of the Nong Thale coast northwest of Krabi town that faces directly out toward the limestone Hong Islands. It brought a polished, current-generation luxury resort to a beach previously known mainly for a handful of low-key boutique hotels — trading Ao Nang’s bustle for calm sand, big Andaman views and the karst scenery of Phang Nga Bay on the horizon.
As the newest of the area’s five-stars, the hardware is fresh. Accommodation runs from sea-view suites to pool villas with private pools, and the resort carries the full Banyan Tree Spa alongside the brand’s wellness and “Stay Well” programming. Dining looks over the water, and the beachfront position means swimming, sunsets and longtail trips to the Hong Islands marine park are all on the doorstep — the islands are one of Krabi’s signature day trips and sit just offshore.
Best for: couples and families who want a brand-new beachfront resort with a serious spa and island views, away from the crowds. Less good for: travellers who want to walk to a strip of bars and restaurants — Tubkaak is deliberately quiet.
Insider Tip: Tubkaak’s calm and seclusion are the appeal, but for a wider choice of restaurants and the main longtail piers you’ll want Ao Nang, about 20–25 minutes away by the resort shuttle. Time a Hong Islands boat trip for an early start to beat the day-tripper crowds.
