Thai Tawi Pomelo Orchard
สวนส้มโอไทยทวี
Thai Tawi Pomelo Orchard is a working organic pomelo farm on Lang Wat Kok Tan road in Sampathuan Subdistrict, Nakhon Pathom — one of the few orchards in Nakhon Chai Si to survive the 2011 floods intact. A half-day visit (boat ride, guided orchard tour, pomelo buffet) costs 300 THB for adults, 200 THB for students; the farm is open daily 08:00-17:00.
What’s actually here
The orchard is over 50 years old and grows five original pomelo varieties — Khao Hom, Khao Nam Phueng, Khao Thong Di, Khao Puang, and Khao Paen — plus the ruby-fleshed Siam Ruby, brought in more recently from Nakhon Si Thammarat. The trees themselves are 28-30 years old and, since the farm converted to organic growing, now bear fruit year-round rather than in a single season. Thai Tawi markets itself as a zero-carbon smart farm — one of the first tourism operations in Thailand to carry that label — which shows up in low-impact touches like the canal boat rides used to move visitors between growing plots instead of vehicle traffic.
Experience
Visits are structured around a guided boat ride along the orchard’s irrigation canals, followed by hands-on activities: watching (or trying) grafting technique, learning how to peel a pomelo properly, and making pomelo salad or a pomelo drink to finish. The buffet centres on two varieties — Khao Nam Phueng, which is sweet with a sour edge, and Siam Ruby, sweeter with deep pink flesh — so you get a genuine side-by-side taste comparison rather than a single sample.
Insider Tip: Book the full-day option (500 THB) if you want unhurried time at each stop — the half-day package moves through the boat ride, grafting demo, and buffet at a brisker pace.
Watch out: This isn’t a browse-and-buy fruit stand — the visit is built around the guided boat-and-buffet package, so call ahead (08 3626 5499) rather than expecting to wander the rows unaccompanied.
Practical details
The orchard is roughly 40km west of Bangkok and easiest to reach by car; there’s no direct public transport route to Lang Wat Kok Tan road. Morning visits get the coolest weather for the boat ride and orchard walk before the afternoon heat sets in. Pair it with Don Wai Market in neighbouring Sam Phran district if you’re spending the day in Nakhon Pathom. View on Google Maps.
