Farm Chokchai

Farm Chokchai is a working dairy ranch on Mittraphap Road outside Pak Chong, the property behind Thailand’s oldest commercial dairy brand and one of Khao Yai’s busiest family day trips. Entry runs 120 THB for adults and 70 THB for children — the same for Thai and foreign visitors — and the tractor-tram ride out to the paddocks and activity zones is charged separately, 140 THB for adults and 100 THB for children 90-140cm tall. It’s open Tuesday to Sunday, 09:30-16:30, and closed Mondays.
The visit moves through a cluster of activity zones rather than one continuous trail. A milking demonstration runs to a fixed schedule, with staff walking visitors through the herd’s routine before letting them try it themselves. The cowboy show — whip-cracking, trick riding, and pony rides for kids — is the other timed draw. Beyond the shows, the farm rents horses and ATVs by the zone, and younger children can hand-feed the sheep pen. A seasonal flower field opens for photos when conditions allow, though the bloom isn’t guaranteed on any given visit. A small museum near the entrance covers the Dong Phaya Yen forest area, the ranch’s cowboy heritage, and Farm Chokchai’s own history as Thailand’s first dairy operation.
Weekends and Thai public holidays bring coach parties and school groups, which stretches the milking-demo queue and fills the tram. Families doing Khao Yai as a weekend trip often slot Farm Chokchai in as a half-day stop, since it sits on the same approach road through Pak Chong. Arriving close to the 09:30 opening avoids the worst of the midday crowds and the heat — there’s little shade between activity zones.
Chokchai Steak House sits by the entrance, serving the ranch’s own beef, and a shop next door sells the farm’s ice cream and dairy products. Parking is free and extensive, and both cash and cards are accepted at the gate. For a different pace nearby, Granmonte Vineyard and Winery and The Chocolate Factory Khao Yai sit in the same Pak Chong agritourism cluster.
Insider Tip: The milking demo and cowboy show run to a fixed timetable posted at the ticket gate — check both before deciding whether to add the tram ride, since missing a show means a longer wait for the next one.
Watch out: The 120 THB gate ticket only covers entry and the included shows. Add the tram (140 THB), horse riding, ATV rides, and ice cream-making, and a family visit adds up well beyond the ticket price.
