Fo Guang Shan Temple
วัดไท่ฮัว ฝอกวงซัน
Also known as: Fo Guang Shan Thaihua Temple, Wat Tai Hua Fo Guang Shan, 泰華寺
Fo Guang Shan Thaihua Temple (วัดไท่ฮัว ฝอกวงซัน) is a Chinese Mahayana Buddhist temple in the Khlong Sam Wa district of eastern Bangkok, and one of the few temples in the capital representing the Fo Guang Shan order — a Taiwanese Buddhist institution founded in 1967 by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. The order promotes Humanistic Buddhism, an approach that brings practice into everyday life through education, cultural activities and community engagement. The Bangkok temple opened in 2019 after a decade of construction.
The complex is built in a blend of Taiwanese and Chinese styles, with red pillars, ornate carvings and traditional gate structures across spacious grounds. Its defining feature is a 37-metre outdoor statue of Guanyin (the Goddess of Mercy), which stands above a shrine hall housing four additional Guanyin forms — Child-Giving, Blessing, Fortune-Giving and Wealth-Giving — arranged for individual veneration. The main prayer hall enshrines three principal Buddha images. Other areas include an ordination hall, a meditation room, a Buddhist study room, a Tripitaka library and a bell tower.
Admission is free. The temple opens Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 to 17:00, and is closed on Mondays except public holidays. Dress modestly with shoulders and knees covered, and remove shoes before entering shrine halls.
The nearest public transport is the MRT Pink Line to Khu Bon station, from which the temple is about 25 minutes on foot or 8 minutes by taxi. On-site parking is available for visitors arriving by car.
