The Four Regions Floating Market — ตลาดน้ำ 4 ภาค — is one of the largest purpose-built floating markets in Thailand, covering 100,000 square metres of canals, wooden walkways and stilted shophouses on the southern edge of Pattaya.

The market is divided into four zones, each representing one of Thailand’s main regions. The Northern zone sells Chiang Mai textiles, hill-tribe handicrafts and khao soi; the Northeastern (Isan) zone offers som tam, grilled meats, sticky rice and handwoven silk; the Central zone covers boat noodles, pad thai and Thai sweets; and the Southern zone concentrates on seafood, coconut curries and batik cloth. Each is built in the vernacular style of its region.

Getting around is part of the experience. Traditional wooden rowboats take passengers on 20-minute tours through the canals, and the market runs an amphibious boat that travels on both water and land roads, linking the zones with a Thai folk-village area. Cultural performances run through the day — classical Thai dance, Muay Thai demonstrations and live music, clustered in the afternoon.

Thai nationals enter free on presentation of a national ID card. Foreign visitors pay an admission fee — around 200 baht for adults — with combo packages that bundle boat rides and shows from about 250 baht upwards. The market opens daily from 09:00 to 20:00.

Watch out: This is a purpose-built recreation of Thailand’s four regions rather than a historic trading canal — worth knowing going in if you’re picturing the older, organic atmosphere of a market like Damnoen Saduak. It’s better understood as a compact, air-conditioned-adjacent introduction to regional Thai food and crafts than an authentic floating-market experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to enter Pattaya Floating Market?
Around 200 THB for foreign adult visitors. Thai nationals enter free on presentation of a national ID card. Combo tickets bundling boat rides and shows start from around 250 THB.
What are the four zones at the market?
North (Chiang Mai textiles, hill-tribe crafts, khao soi), Northeast/Isan (som tam, grilled meats, silk), Central (boat noodles, pad thai, sweets) and South (seafood, coconut curry, batik), each built in that region's vernacular architecture.
How long does a visit take?
Most visitors spend 2-3 hours, including a canal boat ride and browsing the stalls. Add extra time if you want to catch one of the afternoon cultural shows.
How do you get to Pattaya Floating Market from Beach Road?
There's no direct public transport — most visitors take a songthaew from Beach Road or arrange a taxi/day-tour pickup. It's about 12 km south of central Pattaya.
Is it a genuine floating market or built for tourists?
It's purpose-built rather than a historic market that grew organically — a re-creation of Thailand's four regions rather than a single traditional trading canal — which is worth knowing if you're expecting the atmosphere of an old riverside market like Damnoen Saduak.
