Chatukam Ramathep Sanctuary

วิหารองค์พ่อจตุคามรามเทพ

Narathiwat Reviewed Jun 2026
Entry Free

Chatukam Ramathep Sanctuary is a modern shrine hall in the Bang Nak area of Mueang Narathiwat, built by local devotees during the nationwide Chatukam Ramathep craze of 2006–07. Construction began in 2006 and the hall opened the following year, dedicated to Chatukam Ramathep — the guardian deity whose amulets became one of Thailand’s biggest popular-religious phenomena of the decade.

The deity itself originates far from here, at the City Pillar of Nakhon Si Thammarat, where the first Chatukam Ramathep amulets were made; this Narathiwat hall is one of many regional shrines that sprang up as the amulets’ popularity spread across the south. Inside, the focus is a large image of Chatukam Ramathep, surrounded by the offerings of devotees who come to make wishes for protection and good fortune. The shrine has issued its own amulet series, traded among collectors.

Rather than an ancient temple, this is a window into living Thai popular religion — how a single amulet movement can raise physical pilgrimage sites within a few years. A teacher-veneration (wai khru) ceremony has been held here each year since 2008, drawing followers from around the region.

The shrine is free to enter. Dress respectfully with covered shoulders and knees, remove your shoes before entering the hall, and bring small bills if you wish to leave an offering. It sits a short distance from Narathiwat town centre and is easily reached by local transport.
