This 4-hour ride covers about 15km of laneways rather than the standard temple circuit, capped at 10 riders with an English-speaking guide. After a bike fitting near Khao San Road, the route heads off-road through narrow lanes, canals and neighbourhoods most visitors don’t see on foot, crossing the Chao Phraya River via the Rama 8 Bridge.
On the far bank, the ride follows the Bangkok Noi canal through a Muslim community, then loops past Buddhist temples and the old Thonburi train depot — a working bronze-bowl foundry and a set of retired steam engines, when the site is open. A local ferry brings the group back across the river for a stretch past the Grand Palace’s public park, once reserved for the royal family, a row of streetside Buddha images, and the Giant Swing landmark, before finishing back at the bike shop around 1pm.
The pace is relaxed rather than sporty — the FAQ is explicit that this isn’t a fitness ride — with regular stops for street-food snacks, photos and context from the guide. Snacks, the bike and safety gear, and the guide are included in the $36 price; only gratuities are extra.

Itinerary
Meet at Discova Day Tour Shop across MRT Sam Yot station, next block to Miramar Hotel, the last building next to the canal at 8:30 am. The tour will depart at 9 am sharp. After a quick bike fitting and briefing we head out. Cycling through the heart of the backpacker area, Khao San Road, you will soon be biking off the roads this bike tour winds through small laneways, past ancient temples and canals to see the heart and soul of Bangkok.

After a local ferry to cross back over the river, our bike tour passes the Grand Palace where we take a walk through a public park that was once exclusively used by the royal family. After cycling more twisting alleyways, pedaling through a food market, you bike past rows of Buddhas and other sacred images
The Giant Swing is one of the landmarks of the city and was once used for an important Hindu ceremony. From the Swing it is only a short bike ride back to the Grasshopper Shop.
