Also known as: Phi Phi Don Viewpoint, Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint, Viewpoint 1 2 3, Ko Phi Phi Viewpoint
Three separate platforms cut into the hill above Ton Sai village give you the famous view of Koh Phi Phi Don’s narrow isthmus from above — Ton Sai Bay on one side, Loh Dalum Bay on the other, with Koh Phi Phi Leh sitting low on the horizon. The isthmus at the island’s waist is barely 100 metres wide at its narrowest point; seen from the viewpoint above, you understand in a glance why the 2004 tsunami crossed it so easily.
The path starts at the southeastern end of the village and is signposted from both bays. Around 320 concrete steps bring you to a ticket counter, beyond which a steeper, less formal section leads to Viewpoint 1 (garden, photo sign, small shop), then Viewpoint 2 (the main platform, with a café, juice stall, and toilets). From Viewpoint 2 a further 15 minutes on rough trail reaches Viewpoint 3, which is quieter and has a small restaurant. The whole ascent from the village to Viewpoint 2 takes 30–45 minutes at a moderate pace; shoes with grip matter more than fitness. The path has handrails on the steepest sections, but the rock becomes slippery after rain.
Watch out: Sunset draws most of the island’s visitors to Viewpoint 2 at once. The platform is small and photographing without a crowd requires some patience. Early morning (before 8 am) is far quieter — the sun rises behind the viewpoint rather than in front of it, so the light is softer but without the orange-hour drama.
Insider Tip: The viewpoint doubles as the island’s tsunami evacuation point — notice the blue signs on the route up. If you are staying on the isthmus and there is a seismic event, this hill is where you go.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the entrance fee for Phi Phi Viewpoint?
Entry to Viewpoints 1 and 2 costs 50 THB. Viewpoint 3 is run separately and charges its own fee on top of that.
What are the opening hours?
The viewpoint is open approximately 06:00 to 19:30. Going early — before 08:00 — means far fewer people on the platforms.
How do you get to Phi Phi Viewpoint?
You walk from Ton Sai village; there is no vehicle access. Follow the signs from either bay to the southeastern edge of the isthmus, then climb around 320 concrete steps to the ticket counter. Allow 30–45 minutes at a moderate pace to reach Viewpoint 2.
What will I see from the top?
The main draw is the view down onto Phi Phi Don's narrow isthmus — Ton Sai Bay on one side and Loh Dalum Bay on the other, with Koh Phi Phi Leh on the horizon. The isthmus is barely 100 metres wide at its narrowest point, and the double-bay panorama is best appreciated from Viewpoint 2 (roughly 180 metres above sea level). Viewpoint 3, reached by a further 15-minute trail, is quieter and has a small restaurant.
When is the best time to visit?
Early morning before 08:00 gives you the smallest crowds and softer light. Sunset draws most of the island's visitors to Viewpoint 2 simultaneously, making the small platform congested; the light is more dramatic but patience is required.
Is the climb difficult, and what should I wear?
The ascent is steep but manageable — handrails are on the steepest sections. Shoes with grip matter more than fitness; the rock surface becomes slippery after rain. Allow 30–45 minutes to Viewpoint 2 at a moderate pace.
