Also known as: Huai Mae Khamin Waterfall, Namtok Huai Mae Khamin, Huay Mae Kamin, น้ำตกห้วยแม่คะมิน
Huay Mae Khamin runs across seven named limestone tiers inside Khuean Srinagarindra National Park, roughly 110 km from Kanchanaburi town. The water picks up a blue-green tint from the limestone bed — a product of dissolved calcium carbonate, not dye or Photoshop. Each tier carries its own name: Dong Wan, Man Khamin, Wang Na Pha, Chat Kaew, Lai Jon Long, Dong Phi Suea, and Rom Klao at the top. Swimming is permitted at all tiers except Chat Kaew (tier 4), where the current and rock formation make it unsuitable. Life jackets are available for hire near tier 2. The trail from the car park to the uppermost tier covers roughly 2 km on a maintained path and takes most visitors two to three hours at a relaxed pace.
Getting here requires a private vehicle or organised transport — there is no public bus. The most direct route follows Highway 3086 past Erawan Falls and the Sri Nakarin Dam, continuing on a 35-km stretch of paved but steep road with sharp bends and occasional potholes. Alternatively, longtail boats depart from Tha Kradan Pier (about 12 km from the dam) for a roughly one-hour crossing of Srinakarin Reservoir — a scenic option during high water when the road surface deteriorates. Either way, plan for a full day from Kanchanaburi. The park has basic accommodation, a restaurant, and a visitor centre at the waterfall entrance.
Watch out: As of mid-2025, trail infrastructure to tiers 5–7 was undergoing repair work following flood damage; check with the park before attempting the upper section. Water levels and swimming conditions vary sharply between seasons — the falls are at full flow June through October but paths can be slippery. The access road past Erawan is genuinely demanding; large rental cars with poor ground clearance are a bad choice.
Insider Tip: Arrive at opening time (8:00 am) on weekdays. Weekend crowds thin out quickly above tier 3, so even a short climb past the main swimming area gives you the upper pools largely to yourself.
